These items will make such a difference in helping my Resource Science students to get involved in class, and I believe will help them meet or exceed their IEP goals. The microscope and prepared slides will help them to understand the concepts we've talked about in class, and they can see first-hand what the pictures represented. The make-your-own-slide kit will keep their interest piqued and engage them even more, as we can use this to look at a myriad of things we will be studying in Science. I have been researching non-conventional ways to use the microscope in order to keep my students, who already have difficulties focusing and staying on-task, engaged in the study of Science and possibly even for use in some Math lessons. My students love non-traditional ways of learning and engaging all their senses, and I want them to learn that learning can be fun!! I'm starting to see some of them seeming to be interested in gaining more knowledge about certain things, but they need special motivation to keep their interest. I've borrowed items from other teachers, and I am sure this will do the trick!!
