Students in my classroom look at the world through the lens of a designer. We engineer items to solve real-world problems. For example, students desks are not big enough to safely house their water bottles and a Chromebook. So, this past week we used the engineering design process to create water bottle holders for our desk. We are testing and evaluating this week. We also use a curriculum such as Engineering is Elementary. One of my favorite units is one where we design water filters to help save turtles in the Amazon River from polluted water.
