Being a preschooler during distance learning is difficult as it is. Being a preschooler with Autism makes learning from home even more challenging. My students tend to be very wiggly and try to touch the buttons on the computer. If their hands are kept busy with an appropriate fidget, they will be able to focus more on what they are learning, and to the teacher on the screen working with them. Also, my students have a difficult time with fine motor skills. The fidgets and special crayons will help to develop these fine motor muscles. The more support I can give to my students while they learn from home, the less likely they will regress in their skill level when they get to return to the classroom. Giving students access to materials that increase focus, will help decrease regression of skills.
