Light tables are very common in Early Childhood centers throughout the country. Many have been used with special needs children for low vision needs. Throughout time, many educators have noticed how light tables encourage children to stay on task, working with manipulatives for longer periods of time than just having them on a standard table or on the floor. The lighting is often soothing and calming for children. I intend to use the light table as a permanent center in my classroom. It can be used with the manipulatives included in my wish list as well as simply allowing the student to use paper and pencil at the table.
