Kindergarten is such a huge milestone in every kid’s life! I love teaching kindergarten because the kids come in fresh with open minds and hearts ready to learn. It is also many kids’ first time in a school/classroom setting. With that being said, these 5 and 6 year olds are going from being able to move a lot throughout the day, to being expected to sit and focus for long periods of time. My goal is to have different, flexible seating options for my students at each table.
Studies have shown that when you add movement to learning, they comprehend and retain that information better. Even though the majority of my lessons are movement based, there are times where sitting is necessary. This can be very difficult at this age. With these various seating options, I believe my students will be able to focus more on what we are learning rather than their need to move. Help me give these kids the freedom to exercise their minds and bodies at the same time, giving them the ultimate opportunity to do their best learning!
