Standing desks are beginning to be standard in modern offices, and companies like Microsoft and Google are giving their employees the option to work standing up rather than sitting in chairs. What is already a popular trend in offices is slowly making its way into schools. Standing desks are especially beneficial to students who find sitting still for periods of time difficult. Standing allows students to feel less restrained and helps them to stay alert while increasing their ability to focus. Students learn better when they are able to utilize their energy rather than constrain it. By having standing desks available to them, students are given another option of where and how they work in class. Standing desks will also help prepare my students for their future in the workforce.
