The resources I have selected will support my students with home learning this school year. So far I have noticed students having a difficult time keeping track of assignments that are due. My school is still waiting for an order of Chromebooks to arrive, so all assignments are on paper, and I give directions and assign page numbers during our daily Zoom class. The planners I have requested will assist students with staying organized and keeping track of assignments. They will also help students to begin to become more independent and rely less on myself or parents to remind them of upcoming assignments. I have also requested a class set of multiplication and division flashcards because I have noticed some regression in my students' progress with these skills. I had many of these students in 3rd grade last year, and I have moved up to 4th grade with them. Therefore, I am very familiar with their skills and abilities before the schools closed due to the pandemic. I plan to have students use the flashcards to practice facts in breakout rooms on Zoom with a partner, races and drills as a whole class activity, and assign students to practice facts with a family member using the flashcards. Lastly, I have requested individual dry erase boards and 2 markers for each student. These will be used during all class periods to increase engagement and make sure I am easily and quickly able to check in with all students. I have been using the chat feature on Zoom to accomplish this, but I find that some students are having trouble with it, especially those who are accessing Zoom class via a cell phone. These resources would greatly improve the quality of my Zoom lessons and my students' learning experience.
