These materials will provide my students with books that are relevant to their personal lives, culture, and community. I will use them to teach through distance learning and then later I will use them in person for guided reading sessions and read alouds. Finally, I will add them to the kindergarten classroom libraries. Reading books that are culturally relevant helps get budding readers excited about learning how to read. It is also important for our emerging readers to see that there are authors like them, who are writing and sharing their personal culture and stories.
