Math can be difficult to teach AND learn in distance learning settings! My students are attending school in a completely digital setting. During times like this, it is even more important for them to have access to good classroom resources, such as notes, and technology to give them the same learning opportunities as they would have in physical classrooms. This iPad would serve several purposes for my students: 1. Notes: I am currently relying on my mouse, trackpad, and online whiteboard to teach math. These resources are hard to write with (have you tried signing something online with your mouse?!) The note-taking settings offered on an iPad will allow me to model for students how to take appropriate notes, save and upload notes for students who may be absent or need additional support, and have better penmanship so they can clearly see the arithmetic! Modeling proper note-taking is important for my students to succeed in math. 2. Mobility for Projects: My students are full of curiosity and want to apply math to real-life situations, like taxes! Having a portable iPad camera will allow me to move freely around the house so I can show students how math can be applied to real-life scenarios such as baking, filing taxes, making household items, exercise, and more! 3. Doc-Cam: An iPad can serve as a Doc-Cam for my virtual classroom. This feature will be used to show students documents that I otherwise would be using my computer camera to show.
