Nearpod is a product that can revolutionize the way my students learn complicated math concepts, both during distance learning and into the future when we are back in classrooms. As an interactive platform, it has specific extensions designed to engage learns with disabilities, including read-aloud features, easy-to-use annotation tools, and embedded content which streamlines the learning process. Students in Baltimore City have already received multiple messages about who they are and what they can be: showing them that they can both learn and ENJOY math is one step in helping them to break free of the box they've been placed in. Nearpod is a tool that can help us get there. My students are the least likely to engage during distance learning due to a variety of barriers, and the way that Nearpod streamlines the teaching and learning process would remove some of those barriers. Even the smallest thing, like having to open more than one tab and sign in more than one place might cause a student with a severe learning disability to feel overwhelmed; Nearpod eliminates the need to deal with that stress.
