Ceremony is a novel that weaves a story through the Native American tradition of storytelling that is integral to the survival of the culture. Through the non-verbal expression that is a direct connection to the oral tradition that is so important to the Pueblo Indians, the students have a unique opportunity to experience the literature in a way that goes beyond the traditional English literature attempts to engage with text. Expanding the learning experience beyond the four walls of the classroom is an adventure that everyone is looking forward to.
