Unfortunately in New Jersey, the state of our education system is in trouble. With a drastic decrease in funding, we are noticing bigger class sizes and less materials to work with. My students are 6th-7th graders in a brand new engineering course. They are at the perfect age for such a course. The enthusiasm they bring to class is incredible, and it is so refreshing to see students who really want to learn. They bring so much math and science knowledge to class that the projects being completed are extremely successful. Of course they can't help but see the lack of materials they have to work with, and do their best to stifle complaints. In my very biased opinion, these students deserve the world. The gratitude and appreciation they would exude from even having markers to work with would be great.
