In kindergarten, we provide the foundation for students learning to read. After learning letter names, sounds, and basic word recognition through blending, there can be a noticeable division in students' dispositions towards reading. There are the students who are SO excited to pick up their first book and feel confident reading independently, and other students who still struggle a bit and see reading books as frightening, rather than fun. Having a welcoming and comfortable "Reading Zone" in the classroom will help provide a space that ALL students will be excited to use! This project would provide my incredible students with comfortable places to sit and read, easy access to books, and some portable reading cushions that they can take to other areas of the room as well. The reading zone I'm requesting is something my students are incredibly excited about! We sincerely hope you will help support our classroom. My kindergarten kids truly do deserve the best!
