The Scholastic News magazines will help students engage in current events while learning to comprehend non-fiction texts. The digital subscription will allow students to access the articles, videos, vocabulary and other activities at home. Our 2nd grade class will have a mini-society in which students will earn coins for showing positive behavior, going above and beyond with their school work, being a quality contributor to class discussions! Having a economy in our classroom is very rewarding and inspiring for students. It will help them with their understanding of money and real world situations- saving up to buy items they really want/need, earning “money” for doing their job- going to school! Students will be able to use their hard earned coins to purchase fun items, school supplies, lunch with a teacher and friends! It's an awesome opportunity! Staying organized is key for students- shelving units, mini desks, bath room passes, classroom calendars are essential for a calm learning environment. The calendar display will help us keep track of the days, learn about place value and make connections to the world! Thank you for your support!
