Fortunately, our school is 1:1 for technology meaning every student has a Chromebook. However, for teachers, our technology is only replaced after so many years and the current computer I am using is on its 4th year and is becoming outdated. This iMac computer will help me create a more successful online schooling environment for both my students and I. With this computer, I will not only be able to create more engaging and interactive lessons but also monitor and cater to my students needs as they arise during class time. With a higher-powered computer I will be able to run better programs than what I am currently using which will allow me to do things such as virtual tours, create break out rooms, develop instructional videos, and provide interactive projects for my students. By using these types of activities, I can keep my students more engaged and allow them more opportunities to interact with their peers which is so important during this time of distance learning. I currently have a single laptop that I use when teaching. As a result, when I share my screen to present lessons or model on how to do things, I am unable to see my students or any comments/questions they may have in our Google Meet. Having a second computer will provide me the opportunity to use my laptop to teach and still be able to facilitate activities at the same time. The size of the monitor will allow me to have multiple windows open side by side. This means I will be able to see all of my students at a decent size and instantly respond to those in need of help.
