2020 has been an interesting start to a new school year. Distance learning is a new learning curve for all of us. We will overcome these challenges and become stronger individuals at the end of this pandemic, but some learning curves are here to stay. As educators, we have had to expand our horizons and think outside of the box to teach new strategies to students during these uncertain times. The tools and resources we acquire today will be essential in helping this new generation reach their maximum potential and meet their individual needs. Having a portable document camera will alleviate the stress and anxiety of missing out on that one-to-one experience from being in physical proximity with an instructor. A document camera is a device that captures real-time images for displaying to a larger audience. It can project onto my students' computer. Students will be able to follow along on their notebooks as the teacher is providing real-time step by step instruction. My Math middle school inclusion students can truly benefit from me having a portable document camera I can use anywhere. Whether working from home or school, I can target their independent skills and help them through difficult math problems, making it easier for students to participate and engage with lessons. This type of camera was a tool we regularly used during in-person instruction. It will help my students experience instruction the same way they would at school, lessening the impact the distance learning has on their academic progress. This portable document camera would provide tremendous support in meeting the academic needs of all my students.
