Coming out of my first year of teaching, I knew that I wanted to grow my classroom library more, but what I did not expect was how apparent it would be that my library was lacking in books that all of my students could see themselves in. I want every one of my students to be able to pick up a book in my classroom and see part of themselves in the pages, whether it's in their background, the color of their skin, or the struggles they have been through.
