As a brand new teacher, I am trying to collect as many items for my students as I can. The items I have selected will both help my students learn by supplementing our lessons, and will also help them stay focused in the classroom. I chose items that I could picture each of my students using and that I know will help them academically. For example, I added dry erase boards to my list because my classroom does not have individual dry erase boards. These would benefit my students by allowing them to have a personal board to work out problems on or write and show their answers. Also, with COVID-19 it would be great to have enough personal dry erase boards for my students to keep at their desks or at home. Many of my students have ADHD and struggle to focus or become fidgety. The bouncy bands for chairs would be a huge help for my students who have a hard time sitting still. I truly believe that these would have a positive impact on my students and allow them to focus on their work. Along with that, I would like to have a LEGO set in my classroom. This would be used for students who need to calm down or take a break from a challenging assignment for a few minutes. The variety of items I chose will not only help my students academically in the classroom, but also at home and when they need time to calm down.
