Trauma affects children in various ways. As a school counselor it is my passion to teach children how to cope with the trauma in their lives, learn how to self-regulate, and manage their thoughts and emotions. The items selected for this project will provide tools when working with my students through art therapy, bibliotherapy, yoga, and self-regulation strategies. Mandalas, rocks, and paint will be used for art therapy. The various books chosen will be used for bibliotherapy. The yoga mats and yoga game will be used to teach children a strategy for self-regulation. Many of the other items such as fidgets and spheres will be used with children when they are upset and need a tool to calm down. The pipe cleaners and pony beads will be used for students to make breathing beads tools. The journals will allow children their own place to write and draw how they are feeling. The chime will be used when leading classroom circles with children.
