The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have" jobs." In other words, I know exactly what each item will used for in their presentations through out the year. The chart paper and easel will be used to create anchor charts that reflect the discussions the students lead and have during mini-lessons. The laminater, sleeves and paper cutter will be used to create their projects "handouts" for their audience. The pens are rewards for the "best writer" for each project for the year.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing and debating.
By implementing a presentation instead of book reports concept, my students will be able to see and create a multi dimensional argument. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long writers and thinkers. As the teacher, I have researched the brain of the middle school student and their needs. Projects allow students to reach that deeper understanding even though their brains are not fully developed.. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks! These items will allow my students access to materials that they will need for projects that encourage higher order thinking. The classroom is set up as a place to present your ideas/opinions and open it up for discussion.
