After last year's school closure, I learned the importance of beginning to teach students how to use technology and digital resources early on. One of my goals this year as I teach my Kindergarten students foundational number, literacy and social emotional skills, is to also teach them the foundations of digital literacy. We are fortunate to have a Chromebook for every student in my classroom right now, but my students need headphones to enable them to work on differentiated tasks without distractions. I plan to provide daily opportunities for them to spend time exploring and learning through self-paced, differentiated activities based on individual student needs. Doing this will help my students learn in engaging and student centered ways along with building a foundation for digital skills they will use throughout their lives.
