These books will be an amazing addition to the diversity of my classroom library. My students need access to high-quality, diverse, and high-interest reading materials to foster their love of reading! I strive to always demonstrate the importance that reading has on a student's lifelong education. The more variety of books and materials my students have access to, the more well-rounded their world-view will be. I would love to be able to host a class library with enough books that each and every student that walks into my room feels represented in the literature they choose to read. To feel represented in the classroom means a student feels respected and that they matter. Because I teach students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic statuses, I know I need to provide literature that reaches every single student in some way. Having a wide variety of non-fiction texts is just as important as the fiction texts because students need the real-world skills associated with reading and understanding non-fiction texts. Students read to feel connected to the world around them and having non-fiction texts aligned to their interests will encourage them to continually seek information as independent learners.
