It's important to build a love of reading, and a love of learning through reading, and one way to do that is to read together as a class. Reading a novel together provides so many benefits. I currently have a class set of The Indian In The Cupboard that has been studied and loved for several years, and is falling apart! This series has many components that connect with students at this age (creativity, imagination, fear, sibling rivalry, and a transition from childhood to young adolescence). My students can't wait to hear more when we read it together each year.
