I have found that teaching reading to students who are behind grade level can be effective when a little fun and student choice is added. My students learn on different levels and in different ways; therefore, as their teacher, it is up to me to provide multiple roads to get to the same destination. Adding a little fun to anything makes the stress of it better. Whether it's practicing literacy skills using a game like Versa Tiles, or reading a book by one's favorite author, students will easily bridge learning gaps when they have options outside of what is considered a traditional learning environment. My students would love and appreciate the opportunity to be a part of a classroom environment that is fun and engaging, all while bridging the gaps in their reading levels. Please help me add the fun to learning literacy in my classroom!
