Every morning my in-person students love to sing one of their multiplication facts which is procedural math. Yes, I begin our day with procedural math to engage our class and to help them learn their math facts. My math students then begin to learn math both conceptually and procedurally in many fun ways. I would like for my in-person and virtual students to participate in our classroom lessons together. Because math has become rigorous, our students need to become more conceptual learners (i.e. Being able to explain the thinking that goes into the solution). Gone are the days of students only learning how to solve procedural math problems (i.e. 83 – 36). Parents who have opted for their child to learn virtually should be assured that their child is having the same advantages as my in-person students. I need reliable technology for live stream classroom sessions. I want to connect all my students; so that, I can model, guide, and they can all learn together. Having the technology resources will also help me with intervention activities for my virtual students who are struggling and enrichment activities for my above level virtual students. I can also use the technology to record my sessions for students who may want to revisit the lesson.
