Our rural high school has the opportunity to offer Foods classes for the first time in many years. Our budget is limited, and we are starting from scratch building our program.
Because many of our students work in the food service industry after graduation, these supplies will be invaluable in getting our program off to a good start! All of these supplies will be used in nearly every cooking lab during the course of our Foods class. Aprons are a necessity every, single time we cook. At this time, we have no aprons. Knife skills are foundational when learning to cook, and at this time, we have old, well-used, low-quality knives. The pasta racks will be used several times during the course of our International Foods unit and will allow the students to make authentic, handmade pasta. The scissors will be used as we put together recipe books.
I look forward to seeing my students' love of preparing food grow during the course of this school year and for many years after. Our Foods classes will be greatly enriched with these resources. Thank you in advance for the opportunity you are giving our students.
