I teach visual arts in Philadelphia, PA. I am always looking for lessons that have connections to our city. Students should feel pride about where they come from and understand the stories that built their city. I would like to teach a lesson on Alexander Calder and mobiles with these wire cutters, pliers, glue guns, and other tools. The Alexander Calder's father designed the fountain on JFK Boulevard and his grandfather designed William Penn on top of city hall. Creating mobiles involves science, math and I plan to ask the students to create personal symbols to hang on their structure.
