Learning to recognize quantities quickly (subitizing) is an essential skill for young children as a precursor to adding and subtracting. The dice will help students by allowing them to practice recognizing "how many". Dabbers will help students develop fine motor skills and allow them to make letters of the alphabet, using bright colors. Shape stencils will allow students to make/draw shapes and help students to identify circles, squares, triangles, rectangles etc. Ice cube trays will allow students to put "counters" into each mold to count from 1-12. Dry erase markers will help students to practice printing on white boards at home, without wasting paper. Shaving cream is something we frequently use in the classroom as a sensory activity, where students can practice making letters or numbers in the shaving cream. Slime is another sensory activity that students use while taking a "brain break" or "chilling out". Please help my kindergartners have a successful start to their school year while working at home, along with their teachers during remote learning. These are just a few items that will help students to do what we would be doing in the classroom, using a hands on approach to learning.
