My project focuses on sixth grade music students, our oldest grade in elementary school. For some, sixth grade is their final year of any type of musical instruction. My project is an opportunity to provide a magical experience--playing the ukulele! When I introduced the idea of ukuleles to our sixth graders this year, they were SUPER EXCITED!!! I just knew this would be a great tool for our students in sixth grade music class. Students will learn simple ukulele strumming and picking fundamentals, but the instrument will also a tool for experiencing popular music and creative composition!
