Students will have opportunities to create, innovate, and use design thinking to construct prototypes using the materials purchased for the Makerspace. Hot glue guns, masking tape, and rubber bands become materials students use to get their creative juices flowing allowing for true cultivation of 21st-century skills. Other materials will be integrated into our science and math curriculum for a hands-on approach. Whiteboard stickers are applied on the floor for the application of math concepts like measuring, labeling fractions, converting fractions to decimals all while having a space to write and brainstorm. Through collaborative hands-on projects, the makerspace aims to inspire students to become engineers, designing for their users, and being risk-takers to invent something new.
