Though we have only just started our school year, our students have already shown a love for read alouds. A read aloud can be even more meaningful for students when the stories are relatable for students. My students come from a range of backgrounds and share a diverse range of hobbies, interests, and dreams. Some are super creative artists and builders. Others love writing their thoughts. Still others love the outdoors and sports. Having access to these inclusive read aloud books would help me as a teacher offer my students a diverse range of stories in which they can find different layers of their identity represented.
