These books will allow me to group students based on interest into groups either within or outside of the classroom. Regardless of where the book is read, discussions can be held in person or via chat or video calls. Grouping students for discussions allows them the opportunity to see a particular story from another's perspective and challenge or affirm their own views. These real world discussion opportunities will increase the students' interpersonal skills both verbally and with written expression. Students need high interest literature they can relate with that includes characters both similar and different from them. This allows them to experience challenges their peers may face through the books' characters as well as witness how these peer characters work through their problems.
