The human brain is designed to regulate responses to the body’s sensory experiences but for a child with developmental delays, the way the brain processes these sensory experiences can be a major source of distress and discomfort. These tools will help my students learn to self regulate and manage emotions so they can learn and work successfully. I know the ability to manage emotions is strongly connected to success in life and I want to teach them early and give them the tools and space to control and manage strong emotions. These tools will be used to create a sensory space or quiet corner in the classroom to calm and soothe my students from over-stimulation and create a space to self-regulate and manage their feelings.
