Everyone knows this school year is going to look different, and as a teacher of young students, this will be especially true! Normally in a first grade classroom, students would be touching lots of things around the room, sharing supplies and materials with each other, and using manipulatives to guide their learning. This year, using materials in the classroom will look a little different, but that doesn’t mean students shouldn’t ever touch anything at all! By providing my students with their own set of math materials and manipulatives, I can help ensure that they have the concrete items that will help them learn while also making sure they are staying healthy and not spreading germs.
