I am teaching virtually, for the first time, this year. My class will be a 2nd-grade class, with a minimum of 30 students. So much of what we do in classrooms is driven by student responses and reactions. I want more than anything to watch the children's faces light up, their hands in the air, and their smiles when they share new learning or big ideas with me and their virtual classmates. Many of the students will come from low-income families and for economically disadvantaged students it will be most important that I use the ways they learn best, to reach them. I believe that virtual learning will enhance portions of my teaching and much of what my students will learn. I am now allowed to utilize technology that perhaps I haven’t had time to before and this may allow my students who struggled academically, in face-to-face learning environments, to excel in online learning.
