As a school counselor for Kindergarten and First graders entering an uncertain school year, one of my goals is to help students learn how to manage their big feelings. Yoga is one way that I can help students release stress through physical activity and teach them that they can be in control of their own bodies even when everything else seems out of control. Even though students are returning to school during a global pandemic, we want them to feel safe when they are here. The use of these yoga mats can enhance the visual components of social distancing, which is hard for 5 and 6 year olds, and provide them with a special activity to do when their feelings and emotions get big.
