During the school day in a traditional classroom students have the opportunity to read books both independently and in small groups. I want to give my students the opportunity to continue to do so even though we are in a virtual classroom for this school year. By providing my students with small group guided reading time, not only will I be able to better connect with students, I will also be also to target reading skills based on their reading level. I have 2nd grade readers all the way to 7th grade readers all in my 5th grade classroom. Guided reading groups will help students not only increase their reading levels but also foster their love of reading.
