In just a few weeks, my students will be starting school remotely. And for my new batch of incoming kindergartners, this will be their first school experience ever. Although we can't be together in person, reading together will keep our classroom community strong! The book "Our Class is a Family" and engaging reading tools will be delivered to each student and facilitate a socially distanced, face-to-face meeting between myself and them. We will use the book, finger flashlight, and reading pointer throughout the year for shared reading and literacy activities. The message of the book and the shared experience of working with the text and tools will help us form our classroom "family".
