Since most of our students are from low-income families, they do not have the materials at home to learn virtually. I hope to use these donations to create 'goodie boxes' that have materials that will allow them to become successful. In these boxes, students will have manipulatives, materials, and things that we use in the classroom that allow them to feel as if we are still physically in school. Donating these items will allow us to interact with students virtually and will benefit them academically. Providing our students with the basic necessities and daily materials like we would use in the classroom is a top priority as this leads to higher-level thinking, provokes interest and excitement with learning as well as giving them the closest thing to a hands-on learning environment. There are so many challenges with virtual learning that these supplies will ease frustrations because they do not have access to these materials otherwise. It will help us become better virtual teachers during this trying time.
