As a new reading teacher, a classroom library is something that has the power to make a difference in my students' learning experience. I want my students to have diverse books to choose from while also seeing themselves in the stories they read! Many of my students come from low-income backgrounds, and these books are some of the best ways to ensure they have equitable access to materials in and out of the classroom. I have created a list of books that I feel highlight some of the most important aspects of being a fifth-grader; social justice, friends, love, acceptance, and coming-of-age! I also threw in a few classics for fun!
