This year, as we move further into uncharted territory, finding ways to engage students in learning has never been more important. With COVID-19 taking our world by storm, my district has decided to move to a safe, fully virtual learning plan. The middle school years are a crucial time to hook and engage students in STEM learning. Because my students will not be starting the year inside the classroom, this document camera will be extremely helpful to show students the subtle details of science experiments, up close. Using a document camera in Science will be the most realistic way for students to experience experiments and demonstrations in real-time. This document camera will be invaluable during instruction, whether it be virtually through distance-learning, through social distancing in the classroom, or eventually “normal” class-wide experiments or document projections back in the classroom.
