Students need the opportunity to learn and grow through their own interests. Giving them a choice of novels in different genres and content areas helps them express their individuality and get excited about their education. These novels are part of a literature circle unit that allows students to make choices in their education. Choice and variety are what make life interesting, in and out of the classroom. I want to incorporate more choice and variety in my English curriculum by allowing students to have a say in their reading assignments and by offering a variety of options from which to choose.
