I recently read an article about a district that used Scrabble in an inner city district. They believe there was a direct correlation between their reading/writing score improvement and the introduction of the wonderful game of Scrabble. We have a high percent of disadvantaged students economically. Many have not ever played board games. What a way to introduce them to games and provide some educational benefits. At a previous school district, we utilized pedometers within our PE classes and sports teams. We also used them while we participated in the Jump Rope for Hearts. It was a huge success and the kiddos and teachers loved it.
