Being forced to adjust and learn from home in the spring was difficult, but a challenge that all of my students dealt with, never losing their smile. This proved to be much more difficult than anticipated as you change something as simple as the environment and the skills present differently. While many of the assignments created were given a great amount of thought, moving from an in person format to all on the computer proved to be tougher than many might have thought. Through all of the changes, our students were missing the engagement through hands-on activities. It is much harder to be as creative on the computer. My students are used to having a piece of work that they can present to me, but when you are submitting it on the computer, there is just a different sense of pride. I want to change that this year. Many of the families of my students have made the choice to have their students stay home. With incoming freshman that I am unfamiliar with, it is of the utmost importance that I give students the opportunity to participate in hands on activities. Giving them all the supplies they need to engage in the same activities will allow me to guide them and help them grow as if they were in my classroom!
