This year, I can not do most of my normal curriculum. We can't sing, dance, or play recorder. These keyboards are perfect to keep students engaged with active and meaningful music making. Many of my students have expressed interest in learning piano in the past and this seems like the perfect time to expand curriculum. These keyboards will be great for students to work with at their desks and be easy to transport through the school. I always tell parents that learning piano is a great skill for children to learn. Not only does it improve dexterity, improve typing speed and accuracy, it forces your brain to cross hemispheres. Music is one of the only subjects in school where this type of learning occurs. Ultimately, this helps students be more critical thinkers, and improves hand-eye coordination. These are skills that will help students not just in music, but in other subjects and later in their jobs when they leave school.
