All of my students are emotionally disturbed and have had traumatic experiences in their short lives that have given them the "fight or flight" mindset. With the pandemic, students are not allowed to share items so they must have their own things to help them manage stress, anxiety, and emotions. This will allow them to calm down in positive ways to increase learning at school. If virtual learners need them at home, they will be allowed to "check out" items from the various resources being purchased. My students need to have a relaxing environment in which they can learn social emotional skills as well as academics. Flexible seating options are important to students with emotional disturbance, ADHD, Autism, and other disorders so wobble seats and bean bags are urgently needed. These students have to earn out classes but it is important for them to socialize and learn to get along so the tracball and bag of balls will give them a way to expend excess energy and learn team-building skills. The calculators, dry erase markers, and math cubes will help them be successful in math. There are also social-emotional activities that will help them learn skills needed to be successful in life. Please help me show them that people do care and want to see them successful!
