As many of you know COVID19 has impacted our children immensely. Our kids lost a lot of instruction and have been impacted emotionally at so many levels. The stress of being gone from school for a long period of time is making it difficult to cope back in the classroom. I am seeing students really struggling to focus and stay actively engaged. Research says that staying physically active can reduce stress and anxiety. As teachers, we know that physical activity is also linked to higher academic results, optimize health, and can improve behavior. Research also proves that flexible seating can stimulate students’ sense of touch, and this type of stimulation can help children focus and process information better. This is why I strongly believe flexible seating, today, more than ever, is a huge necessity in my classroom for my students' success. I know that these balance balls/ flexible seating will help my young first graders stay more alert and focused. These are unprecedented times we are living in and I’m not certain how much school my kids will miss this year, but I do know I can and will work hard to maximize their learning while they are with me in the classroom. Any help is greatly appreciated. On behalf of my students, thank you for helping me maximize my time with them and helping them be successful.
