We would like to begin the school year with doing a novel study. The novel we would like to read is "The One and Only Ivan." We will be working on the novel study for four weeks and at the conclusion of the book, we will compare across media. My students will enjoy reading the novel while teaching the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills needed to be successful in assessments and promoted to the next grade level. My students will have the opportunity to experience novels from diverse authors. The best outcome of receiving these books is to aid in BUILDING A LOVE OF READING.
