These manipulative letters will help my students practice spelling patterns and rules in an engaging and multisensory way. We work hard on spelling every day to improve a known weakness of dyslexic learners. Spelling activities can be painfully difficult for these students. Using manipulative letters allows them to practice spelling without the frustrating handwriting requirement. They enjoy working with three-dimensional objects and show increased success and engagement when provided. Using manipulative letters helps reduce frustration and allows dyslexic students to demonstrate spelling mastery. As we move to online learning this fall, we will continue to work on spelling virtually. These magnetic letters allow students to show their spelling mastery on camera. They will be used in conjunction with their magnetic boards. We will use these letters daily to practice spelling until they are confident with their handwriting strokes and have overcome symptoms of dysgraphia.
