Imagine walking into a classroom and get excited about reading, only to be met with books you can't identify with. Or open a book and realize you have nothing in common with the main character. As an adult, I know how hard it is to open a book and find nothing relatable about some of the books I read. It is hard to fathom how my 10 and 11 year olds might feel. To become a confident writer, students need to become confident readers. If they have no interest in reading what is presented to them, then how can I expect them to dedicate themselves to writing? Wouldn't it be hard to write or design something you're proud of, and need to wait until the next day to have in your hands? Or design an image and be forced to look at it in black and white? The purpose of the printer is to allow students to see their work, revise their work, and produce pieces that they are proud of. With the use of technology and connecting students to the books they are reading, I am confident that they will progress through the year, regardless if they are at home or in school. Thank you in advance for supporting this project!
